Who is “Honey the Cat”?

First off its important to note that Honey the cat was not a joke character. It’s important to stress this fact that programmers do not waste time and money making jokes. And given the fact that Sonic and Tails were available in “Fighting Vipers” it seems likely that it was going to be a funny exchange of characters. It’s also worth noting that a model of Honey is visible in the intro “Fighters Megamix” giving further proof that she was planned originally to be official, but due to time constraints was probably left out and nothing more than that, a cruel fate indeed.

Second most important thing is
you cannot play as Honey in any version of "Sonic the Fighters" accept a dumped rom version only avalible on PC and even then you have to be an uber hacker.

Honey the Cat was a semi-unofficial Character in the arcade game 'Sonic the Fighters' she was probably intended as a secret character based on the character Honey in the game “Fighting vipers” because she wears almost exactly the same outfit. The crossover was most likely put forward due to the fact that both “Sonic the Fighters” and “Fighting Vipers” ran on the same Arcade engine and also had the same project leader Daichi Katagiri.

During the crossover to STF Honey from “Fighting Vipers” became a cat because of her many cat like attacks and poses.

There is only 1 version of the Rom available and is apparently the US rom dump file, but even though Honey has been removed from all game play. All of her existing data to the point at which they stopped making her is still included in the files of the game. There are few people with the ability to play as honey and hack the STF rom, if you find one don’t pester them, as I am informed that its quite complex and you would only be annoying them to keep asking them to give it to you.

First off Honey has two forms based of the 2 versions of Honey in “Fighting Vipers”, first off is the one we know and love with the yellow fur and red dress. The second can only be obtained with further hacking, and she has pinky/purple fur with a pail blue dress just like her counterpart in “fighting Vipers” let me stress however that the yellow and red Honey is the version that is available first and easier, there for believed to be closer to what was going to be her final form.

Playable Honey

Honey’s move set was never quite completed. It seems like she has a version of different people's moves. Sonic’s air jump attack, Tails' dash attack, and Amy's back kick slide thingy, Amy's PikoPiko, Nack's Gun, Bean's Bomb, ect.
She also has the default move set for any unused character (such as rocket metal sonic and eggman)

Defaults for unused characters:
Punch, Punch, Punch: "One, Two Upper"
Punch + Kick: "Propeller Dash"
Punch + Guard: "Knuckle Special"
Towards + Punch: "Big Slap"
Up, Punch: "Head Whallop"
down + Punch: "Dash Spin"
Up + Kick: "Stomping Dive"
Down + Kick: "Stomp Foot"

Honey also has a larger stockpile of expressions than the other characters making it thus more apparent that she maybe just simply ran out of development time to be included. She still dose have the odd glitch like her eye’s are a bit on the glitchy side, she always has an eye closest to the camera but the one on the other side is often all over the place of simply not there at all.

Conclusion

Honey is quite an underdeveloped character, but still lovable just the same. Her design based on Honey from “Fighting Vipers” made her more of a solid character design and awesome to look at, almost like one of the first fan characters to make it into a video game. XD Honey is just as real as any other Sonic character, and in my view a lot better than some of the more recent characters Sonic-Team has made over the years. Just like any character, she will never die as long as we remember her.

I still draw Honey the cat, but I draw her as I believe she may have developed since she was unfinished all those years go, I draw her at age 16 and I plug that at 4 years after the events of “Sonic the Fighters” her main rival is Rocket Metal Sonic, who is featured briefly on the intro of STF but like honey was also removed from game play but is playable via hacking.
